Breville BJE820XL Introduction

If you’re looking for a juicer that can juice even soft fruits without leaving waste, then you should seriously consider taking a look at the Breville BJE820XL Juice Fountain Duo Dual Disc Juicer. With a stainless steel puree disc that can even juice soft fruit and vegetables, there’s no reason for the Breville BJE820XL to limit your experimentations and healthy lifestyle. Juicing is a fast and healthy way for you to get your five (or seven) a day with little mess or stress, that is bound to impress you and whoever else you serve your juice to (there’s nothing like the taste of fresh vegetables and fruit).

The Breville BJE820XL has an electronic five speed dial to ensure that you get the optimum amount of juice from leafy greens, fruit and vegetables (of both the soft and hard variety) alike. It doesn’t matter if you’ve put kale, cabbage, carrots, tomatoes, bananas, oranges, apples or even avocadoes into your juice – the Breville BJE820XL will juice each item with the same cost efficiency and result in a high quality juice consistently so that you can enjoy a wide variety of different flavours of home-made juice with a consistent consistency no matter how many times you use your juicer.

The Breville BJ820XL also has a ‘Nutri Disc’ reinforced with titanium cutting blades; the high strength to density ratio making it ideal for slicing harder fruit and vegetables before forcing the pieces into and through the attached stainless steel mesh filter basket which completes the shredding of the fruit and vegetable slices, grinding out the pulp and extracting the juice which is then dispensed automatically and collected in the 1.2 litre jug that comes as a part of the Breville BJ820XL juicer kit – as is the 3 litre pulp container and 3” extra wide feed chute.

Breville BJE820XL Juicer

The Breville BJ820XL is a fantastic juicer for anyone looking to enjoy fresh juice inspired by juice flavours that they already know they like, and for anyone looking for the opportunity to experiment with new textures, flavours and quantities. The dual capability to juice both soft and hard fruits and vegetables means that the juicer allows the user the freedom to experience a variety of juices – juices made mostly from fruit, juices made mostly from vegetables, and juices that are made equally from fruit and vegetables.

The Breville BJ820XL performed exceptionally well in our kitchens – we simply washed/peeled/pitted our fruit and vegetables as necessary, put the pulp container and juice jug in the correct places, plugged in the Breville BJ820XL juicer, turned it on, put the fruit and vegetables inside the feed chute and waited for the juice to trickle through into the juice jug (we weren’t left waiting long).

After we tried our first measure of juice (the texture was great even if it tasted like liquefied salad – that was probably our fault; our recipe consisting of cucumber, avocadoes, lettuce and tomatoes) we decided to test the alleged “overload protection” by constantly filling the juice machine with different fruit and vegetables to see if it would shut itself down as claimed. It did and the temperature had barely risen (from what we could tell of feeling the metal body) by a few degrees at most. After emptying out the pulp and testing the juice (carrot and orange isn’t the worst blend in the world), we queried if the juicer would turn itself back on when it was ready. An hour later and it still hadn’t turned itself back on, we turned it off then on again ourselves at the wall, let the remaining oranges be fully juiced before re-turning off the electricity, opening up the cover and seeing what kind of cleaning job we had let our dishwasher in for.

And in terms of hygiene and health and safety, very few juicers can match the Breville BJ820XL. With a cleaning brush included and dishwasher safe components (excluding the stainless steel mesh filter basket/Nutri Disc and ‘food pusher’) – it’s clear that not only is Breville focused on effective cleaning, but also on time-efficient cleaning. The Breville BJ820XL is also built to best protect you and your home, utilising safety features and precautions to minimise the risk of both the juicer working when unprotected, and also to prevent the overloading of the juicer, to stop the juicer from over-heating and becoming a fire hazard in the kitchen.

As expected there was a substantial amount of pulp that had stuck itself to the inside of the juicer, which slightly impaired the usefulness of putting it through the dishwasher – once the cycle was finished we found we had to draw straws as to who would get out the pot scourer and do it the old fashioned way – had we restarted the machine ourselves or cleaned it out earlier, we feel confident that this could have been avoided.

  • The motor inside the Breville BJE820XL is extremely powerful.
  • This particular model is relatively affordable in comparison to other high-grade Juicers.
  • Being dishwasher friendly helps quite a lot – saving you a lot of time with the after-juice clean up.
  • Pulp and other food materials do seem to get stuck inside the Juicer – which can become a pain for cleaning.

Our Final Conclusion For The Breville BJE820XL

The Breville BJ820XL is the juicer for you at home, or as part of a larger company thanks to its large capacity, inbuilt health and safety features, easy-clean components, and two different discs made of two different metals; each one best suited to the job it carries out .e.g. titanium for slicing the harder fruits and vegetables and stainless steel for chopping the smaller fruits and vegetables; leading to a great tasting juice time and time again.
