Texas-Style Baked Beans Slow Cooker Recipe

These Texas-Style Baked Beans are great for when you want to go ahead and try something different. If you’re bored of the usual Tomato sauce flavor that comes with more traditional baked beans, then why not opt for something that you would find at a leading restaurant? These Texas-Style Baked Beans are filled with spicy flavors that can be made in any slow cooker. We have personally used this recipe to take to hangouts and meetings, and we can thoroughly say, they are the only thing we get asked about the most.

Almost everybody at the party wants to know what supermarket we bought them from, or what brand they are. We are always happy to announce that we have made them ourselves, and we always share the recipe with our fellow slow cooker lovers. Of course, you’ll need a slow cooker for this recipe. Texas-Style Baked Beans Ingredients

You will need the following items to begin cooking up these great tasting beans:

  • One pound of ground beef.
  • 4 cans of baked beans. If you can get beans with include pork sausages, or something similar, that’s always better.
  • 1 can of chopped green chili peppers (other peppers are fine too)
  • Some form of barbecue sauce
  • 1 onion that has already been peeled and chopped
  • Half a cup of brown sugar (white is fine, but brown is more healthy)
  • A tablespoon of garlic and a tablespoon of chili powder
  • 3 tablespoons of Tabasco (or a similar spice infusing ingredient)

Cooking Instructions

Firstly, brown the beef until the inside of the beef is no longer pink. It’s entirely up to you how long you decide to cook the beef for, although you should always do this in a skillet over medium heat. Once cooked, proceed to drain the fat and then set it aside for later use.

Secondly, with your slow cooker, throw everything inside (quite literally). The preference of throwing in order would be the beef first, followed by the four tins of baked beans, followed by the ingredients for seasoning purposes. It doesn’t matter which order you throw in the ingredients. Be as vigorous as you wish!

Finally, leave the baked beans to cook on HIGH for roughly two hours in total, or for between three and five hours on low heat. If you have a programmable slow cooker, you can automatically set the temperature and cooking time, and then simply return to your delicious Texas-Style Baked Beans later on.
